Phillippe Phanivong is joining GridLab as a Senior Program Manager in November 2025. Prior to joining Gridlab, Phillippe spent nearly two decades in the energy sector holding various roles in industry and academia. Phillippe started his energy career serving in the US Navy as a nuclear power plant electrician. After leaving the Navy, Phillippe pursued his engineering degree and worked at Seattle City Light and Pacific Northwest National Lab before moving to California for graduate school. More recently, Phillippe has worked as an independent energy consultant working on grid modernization and as a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute for Energy and Environment.

Phillippe earned his PhD in Energy and Resources from UC Berkeley. His research focused on problems at the intersection of energy policy, engineering, and economics. Phillippe also holds an AS from North Seattle Community College and a BSEE from the University of Washington.
